The Passion of One of Our Sisters
Congratulations Erin Marshal-Cunningham for your dedication to women's sports and to your students.
Both the Finger Lakes Times and The Chronicle-Express wrote articles highlighting the work Erin has done for the Penn Yan School District. As a softball player herself, Erin played on fields that barely qualified as such and often reflected on how the baseball teams had it all: dugouts, scoreboards, fencing. Now that she is on the Penn Yan Schools Board of Education, she found a way to change all that. Working with her community, she raised over $100,000 in grants, donations, and old-fashioned teamwork. Now the new softball field, part of the Elm Street Sports Complex in Penn Yan, is ready to play ball!

2024-26 Biennium
Andrea Windus has graciously accepted the the position of Alpha Tau President. At its annual meeting over the summer, the Executive Committee met and have put together a great year for us. Thank you to all who have helped to plan, make calls, buy favors, or drive a friend to a meeting. We appreciate each one of you.

President's Project!
At our first meeting of the biennium, we learned about Andrea's President's Project, Habitat for Humanity. A project near and dear to her heart, she invited two wonderful recipients of a Habitat House in 1999. Laura and Brittany Burnett have been living in their lovely home for 25 years and have never forgotten the hard work and amazing opportunity they were given through this empowering program. Click here to read more about Laura's presentation.
First Meeting of the Biennium
A great deal of business was conducted. The Finance, Membership, and Communications Committees reported their work over the summer, and Jane Crosby (right) shared some heart warming correspondences from our sisters who cannot make it to meetings but are with us in spirit. Thank you to everyone who has worked hard to prepare for the coming year.
"Friendship is the greatest gift."
We said good-bye to a much loved sister, Kay Meisch, who left us much too soon. She was remembered well by her friends and students. Kay's smile and welcoming nature to everyone and anyone who crossed her path marked her profound teaching career. We remember her.

A Night with Elizabeth Cady Stanton
Omega Chapter joined Alpha Tau for a great night at the Clifton Springs Country Club to hear a dramatic presentation by Eleanor Stearns as she brought to life the accomplishments of Suffragette Elizabeth Cady Stanton. She spoke about how she continued her education, lead the Women's Rights Convention, and inspired millions of women across time and space despite "having not been born a boy." A great presentation as we are reminded to vote very soon.
Dramatic Monologues
Eleanor Stearns also portrays Emily Dickinson, Amelia Earhart, and Clara Barton.
Omega Chapter Joins Us
It is always a great meeting when two chapters get together and share stories and catch up on friendships.
Inspiration
Ellie Robinson shared with everyone how President Carter, celebrating his 100th birthday, supports Habitat for Humanity.

Auction Success
Our November Auction was another great success as we raised $2660 for high school seniors entering the teaching field and for teachers who need support in their classrooms. The Moose Lodge in Penn Yan did a great job with the meal and the auctioneers moved things long at a robust pace. Well done, ladies.
Sisters Sharing
Communications Chair Renee Williams created a newsletter called "Sisters Sharing" that highlights some of the things we have been doing. In the first issue, we got to check out a great list of books to read and what sorts of PD our active sisters are part of. Look for more opportunities to share and stay connected.
